The Wilson County Department of Social Services in North Carolina recently honored foster parents, a group of people who take the time and effort to care for children who have been taken from their own families.
During the DSS’ annual Foster Parent Banquet, DSS director Glenn Osborne said, “I look around this room and I know that you, our foster parents, are truly heroes, each and every day.” Keynote speakers included three former foster children who are now members of the group Strong Able Youth Speaking Out, or SAYSO. DSS recognized several foster parents for their commitment to caring for children in the foster system, and awarded completion certificates to participants of the Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence-Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting/Group Preparation and Selection class.
